SET UP YOUR PROFILE

Well, now that you found us, we want to know a little bit about you! So go ahead and set up your own personal profile page. You will find a profile template ready and waiting for you. You are now ready to add your own pics, avatars and information! Simply place the cursor where you want things to go and type in the info or upload pics and vids.

UPLOADING PICS AND VIDS

Tip: Click the "save" tab every now and then, especially after doing anything that took a good deal of time! You can re-open the easy edit toolbar again after saving. It's better than losing all your hard work because of a computer glitch! To upload a pic to your profile, start by saving it to a location you can easily find (I find that my desktop works quite nicely for this - I can always move or delete it when I'm finished with this part). Click the "easy edit" button.

Place holders: Place holders are blank gray squares we use simply to fill in a table that is waiting for editing. The place holder will need to be removed before you can add your own graphic. Click on the place holder to outline it. An edit box will usually spring up above the place holder on the right hand side. Click "edit image" (if the edit box doesn't pop up, just click "image" in the easy edit box at the top of the page). The image editing box will appear on the screen. Click the blue highlighted "remove the image" in the box to delete the place holder. You are now ready to add your own image!

Uploading an image: Now that you have a nice, blank space, let's look at how you can fill it up! Click the "image" tab in the easy edit toolbar. Click "browse" and find your pic, then "add image" to upload. Don't panic if the image comes up really huge or thumbnail size! Just use the "-" or "+" buttons in the image editing screen to adjust the size (if you are trying to make the pic bigger, you may lose some resolution so it's always best to use a pic somewhat the size you want it to end up). If the program refuses to upload the pic, check the file size. It can't be bigger than 400x500 pixels and is limited to 500k. If it's too big, use a photo program on your computer to adjust the size before uploading. If it's not too big and the program is still refusing to upload, it's just being stubborn. Close the image window you have open and try again.

Vids and Widgets: Again, if there is a placeholder, follow the instructions above for getting rid of it. Place your cursor where you want the new information to go and click the "Widgets" tab in the easy edit toolbar. There are many web sites pre-loaded for your convenience. Choose the one you want or click "other widget" to go to your favorite site. Once you've found the widget or vid you want to add, click on it in the box to highlight it and click the "add" tab. Your vid or widget will be added when you click "save".

STARTING A DISCUSSION THREAD

We've got a lot of really great people here, so don't be shy about getting to know us! There are several threads already started, so you can feel free to jump right into one of them - or, you can start your own by clicking the "start thread" tab at the bottom right of every page. Give it a subject line, type in your message and post. Your thread will appear at the bottom of the page where others can read and respond to it. If you left the "watch this thread" box checked then a message will be automatically sent to your profile "watchlist" page when there is any activity in that thread - a good way to keep up with replies if you are involved in several threads on different pages!

Reply in an ongoing thread: Simply click the "reply" tab in any post in the thread. Your comment will appear at the end of the thread. If you want to reply to a specific person, it's best to put their name at the beginning of your comment so they know your response is specific to them, though it may also be general info to others. You can find threads specific to certain topics by simply going to the relevant page within the wiki or you can click the "discussions" tab at the top left of the screen under the banner for a list of current and ongoing topics.

ADD/DELETE CONTENT TO PAGES

You can add or delete content to any unlocked page on the site by using the easy edit tab at the top of every page. We do ask a few things of anyone editing pages and reserve the right to undo/re-edit any changes made.

Keep it neat: Multiple pics, vids and widgets scattered randomly throughout the page make the page look cluttered and are difficult to read because of all the distraction. We try to keep info easy to find, the writing easy to follow and distractions to a minimum. A single, favorite pic as illustration at the top of the page is fine. If you want to add other pics, widgets and vids as illustration, please place them in a table at the bottom of the page OR add a companion page. Writing should be primarily white on black to match the rest of the site. Rainbow colors all over the page are, again, distracting and difficult to read.

Keep it Relevant: We want pages that people are interested in seeing. Random pages placed throughout the wiki simply because it's possible for you to add them are unacceptable. Please don't add pages that have little or nothing to do with the subject matter ("Supernatural", cast, crew, etc). Don't add pages only for your own personal enjoyment. We have an entire community here. We want pages that all will be interested in seeing!

Use spellcheck: When you are writing comments in the discussion threads, we want you to be yourself and not feel self-conscious if you aren't the greatest speller in the world. Feel free to spell and abbreviate things any way you want in the discussion threads! But PLEASE, when editing pages for the site itself, use spellcheck just to make sure. Some spelling errors are amusing. Others, not so much. We appreciate you taking the time to take this one additional step to help us make these pages show what a labor of love this site really is!

Keep it informative and accurate: To the best of your ability, please make sure the information you add to the pages is accurate. We don't want to give out false information. If you find something on a page that you believe to be inaccurate, research it and change it if you find it to be false. If you are not sure, feel free to send a message to Deansgirl666 or Thenitehawke (or both) and one of us will check into it as soon as possible. We want this site to contain as much information as possible but we don't want to be posting speculation as fact!

Promo pics: We have put a lot of hours into the promo pics pages. Many of them are still not done to our satisfaction and are still up for editing. Please take a look at finished pages before putting the time in to edit them yourself as there actually IS a method to our madness! The episodes "Mystery Spot" and "Jus in Bello" are good examples of what we try to do: The pics are placed neatly in a table, they are all the same size and they are in order first to last. We try to get enough good stills to "tell the story". If you saw the episode, we want you to be able to follow the story through the pics, to say "Oh, yeah! That happened just before.....". It can be difficult to reign in the enthusiasm (obvious if you look at "Mystery Spot": I was determined to get a pic of every time Dean died in the episode and went a bit overboard with the number of pics). Try to limit yourself to 30 or fewer. A good place to find stills is www.screencap-paradise.com if you don't already have a favorite place of your own. When you feel you've finished a page, let us know with a quick note. We check edits regularly but, with something that takes as much time as the promo pics pages, we want to look them over quickly to keep your hard work safe. If the page is finished to our satisfaction (we will discuss changes with you before editing, promise!) then we will lock the page, preserving your hard work forever from future edits!

ADD A PAGE

You can add a primary or companion page by clicking the "add page" link below the navigation box. Give your page a name and put in the key word tags that will help people find it (usually this would be your subject and then the usual "Supernatural" tag words such as "Supernatural, supernatural tv, cwtv, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, etc). Click the "add page" tab and you are ready to create your page using the Easy Edit feature!

LOCKED PAGES

There are hundreds of hours of work that have gone into creating this wiki and we don't want anyone's hard work to go to waste because we get one of the random trolls who sometimes show up on these sites! Therefore, pages that are considered "finished" are locked by either the wiki creator or one of the administrators. These pages cannot be edited except by permission. If there is anything you feel should absolutely be added to the page, feel free to contact Deansgirl666, Bluebird123 or Thenitehawke with your suggestions. We will review them and, if we feel that adding to or editing the page would make it better, you will be contacted regarding when the best time would be for you to have the page available to make your changes. The page will be unlocked only for the time it takes for you to make your changes. It will then be reviewed by us and re-locked.

CONTESTS AND PRIZES

Contest rules will be posted on the contest pages. Cheating in any way will result in immediate disqualification. Winner decisions are made according to the rules which will state whether the winner will be chosen by the creator and administrators or by vote or simply by numbers. All decisions will be final. If you win a prize, you will be required to give us a mailing address where your prize can be delivered to you. Prizes will be shipped USPS. Once shipped, your mailing address will be deleted from our records so, if you win a prize in the future, don't be surprised that we ask for your information again. Your personal information will be kept confidential and will not be retained for any purpose beyond the shipping of your prize.

DONATIONS

This site is entirely supported by us and by donations we receive from our generous members. Because our own finances are extremely limited, donations are a very welcome and much appreciated gesture. They are used ONLY for the purchase and shipping of contest prizes. The more money we have available, the better the prizes we are able to offer. In order to donate to this site, please click the "site donations" button on the home page. No donation is too small! We appreciate whatever you are willing to give and THANK YOU for your support!
