What did you think of The Curious Case of Dean Winchester?

OK, this was fun!

But, I have to agree with some of the critics ... I'm getting a little antsy about the APOCALYPSE. What's goin on while the boys are hunting crazy Gandhi, Paris Hilton, and he-witches? It did have a couple of lines about Bobby's angst and Dean's reassurance, as well as Sam being wiling to do A LOT to save his brother, that were interesting toward the arc, but other than that ... well.

hmmm...

Good episode.... but I agree with Zu. While the boys are playing poker for years what are the horseman and Lucifer up to???? Do you find this valuable?

Loved it -- a fun episode for Halloween. I did miss seeing Cas, but the guy playing Patrick was excellent! I found him threatening, yet not completely despicable. He was a fun villain. :)

I really enjoyed the episode. Chad Everett was -great- as Dean. I loled a lot at how wonderfully he captured Dean's character; Dean does certainly make a cute old man. The bickering between Dean and Bobby was hilarious. I totally agree with Sam when he says "It's like -Grumpy Old Men-." haha xD

I was moved by Bobby's admition of potential suicide. My face totally looked like -> :C when he said it. I was very glad by Dean's talk at the end of the episode. <3

With amy: Patrick was a great villain! I think he may have been more of an antagonist rather than true bad guy, which makes him easier to like than some of the other baddies in the show.

With Zu: I'm super curious as to what is happening with the rest of the Apocalypse. O: I hope some more revelations (lol) are revealed in the next couple episodes. : )

I loved the episode! Chad was AWESOME as older Dean. And I also really liked Bobby being such a big part of this episode, and how his feelings were portrayed. It was funny, I just love it when Bobby calls Dean and Sam idjits. I haven't heard that in a while.

But I'm also getting a little impatient about the whole apocalypse. The boys should be taking care of that. I have a very sad theory about the recent funny episodes, and the ones to come: Maybe the writers know that this maybe the last season, and want to use all the funny ideas they had in time. :(

But I'm ready for some action, some demon fighting and what not. I can hardly wait for the tenth episode!

I really enjoyed this epi, but I agree with SuperZu, I am getting antsy too, but...I think these epi's are better then just jumping into the whole Apocalypse thing. It's better for the plot...

I have to laugh cause I tried in vein to guess what would happen this epi, and was totally wrong, I guessed Sam would use his brain to save Dean and Bobby rather then actually play the game...And the total opposite happened!! Like I said in another discussion, I swear Kripke hears my guesses and just does the opposite!!! LMAO!!!

But as usual, as much as I loved this epi, and CAN NOT WAIT for the next!!! it looks hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, we need the fun ones, but I was expecting something a little more Apocolyptic.

That being said, I had to watch this a couple of times, as the first time I watched it, I got mad. I thought Sam had gone off on his own to try and save Dean, not realising it was part of the plan (DOH) and I got mad at Dean playing to save Bobby. I thought 'Here we go again, they still haven't learned'

It wasn't until I was driving in the car thinking about it all, that I realised that they love each other enough to lay down their lives for one another, and no greater has he than to lay down his life for a friend. I guess I just didn't want to see another deal having to go down.

Good to see Sam doing the right thing and being able to help Dean out. I think it gave Sam an opportunity to be a grown up and not the kid brother. I saw a bit more equality with the brothers.

Bobby and Dean as grumpy old men, HILARIOUS !!! Dean saying he was going to add killing Bobby to his bucket list, rofl.

And when Dean became young again and danced out the building, so goofy !!

I felt for Dean when Booby had his meltdown. I thought Dean might tell Bobby he isn't healed because Dean wouldn't be Michael's vessel.

Patrick was awesome !!! I think he had to have a charm about him, an allure as opposed to being sinister, or people wouldn't want to gamble with him. And nothing is more charming than the Irish !!!

I was surprised though that the boys didn't kill him.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

Next week is the trickster and the sitcom, yes? I am REALLY looking forward to that one.

So, I'm curious (ha ha) about something. I thought I had missed the first minute of the show when I turned it on and there was no "THEN" segment. But when I played the epi on some of the online sites later, there was no "THEN" segment there either. What happened to that? Is this like the first episode without the opening segment? hmm...

The thing I missed in this episode more than anything (even more than getting back to the mythology arc) was seeing Dean (Jensen) in the whole thing. I know there have been several episodes (like What Is and What Should Never Be, and The End) in which we see MUCH more of Dean than of Sam, and none really that have been the other way around. But I have to say that I missed (young) Dean's facial expressions, great lines, and general presence!

I think Chad did a very good job, I could almost see Dean in him all the way. I kinda switched back to younger Dean in my mind when I was watching, and then I thought " Yeah, that really could be Dean when he's older ".

Also there was one more thing that I loved about this episode: Dean dancing in the end! It wasn't anything big, but seeing him like that just made me break into a huge smile. Dean's first dance on supernatural- Sam now it's your turn.

Am I the only one that is a bit suspicious about Sam winning the game? :/ Do you really believe it was that simple - just lucky? :(
Now, I don't want to believe that Sam did something bad to increase his chance to win but maybe he didn't know that something/somebody helped him?

Geeez, I am getting paranoid! It is all Kripke's fault! :(

Anyway, I liked the episode a lot. Boys seem to make a good team. I like them as equal partners :D

You know, that's the first thing I thought of -- that Sammy cheated or used a spell or SOMETHING! But I did not even want to say it because I'm being as mistrustful as Dean now, ha ha! Anyway...I know what you're saying! It seemed too easy.

Yup, the brothers as equals is a good thing!

I agree with TheTanith completely. This, so far, is my favorite episode by far since Season 2. I really missed the humor that was the hallmark of each episode in the past. Chad Everett was fantastic as Dean. He really was Dean and looked like he enjoyed every scene. I laughed so hard at so many scenes. The actor playing Patrick was incredible. I hope they find a script to bring him back. Dean and Bobby were really funny with the "Grumpy Old Men" characters. Creative idea using cards to gain or lose years. Do you find this valuable?

Maybe it's me, but the ending to this one felt a little more heartfelt than usual. I consider myself a fairly manly man, but when the woman opened the locket with the pictures of her daughter (from young to old), I couldn't help but to sympathize. A lesser show would have spent 15 minutes alone telling her backstory, but I think the writers were smart to realize that everything you needed to know was in that small but beautiful scene. Well put, LostWinchester! (about the locket, and the manly man part...LOL!) Everyone made such a big deal of not knowing what the back story was (not here, but on *ahem* other sites). I totally concur that a more subtle yet powerful image is the way to go! Do you find this valuable?

The first review I found on internet (text was written right after the episode, on Thursday evening) was very critical. The author was very... unsatisfied. LOL

When he refered to the last scene he actually used the expressions: “closing scene is frustrating”, “storyline was pathetically underdeveloped”, “we have no idea who she is or what her story is, it's really hard to care” etc.

I think writers have shown enough. It is not so difficult to imagine the rest of the story... I liked this final scene and I found she-witch very touching!

Yeah, me too... I mean I am mistrustful ;) And I am scared! Scared of a next terrible revelation about Sam! :( I don't want him to make any mistake again...

Sam could use some magic trick. In the first episode he gave Dean a hex bag - protection from angels and demons. Sam admitted he learned that from Ruby.
I hate to think that Sam made something like that but this time he didn't mention that it was a trick.

As I said... I am paranoid! LOL

Well, as learned in Criss Angel Is a Douche Bag, Sammy was into magic when he was 13, including card tricks, so maybe he used one of those. LOL! Do you find this valuable?
